The Reasons for Belief on God

Why do over 2 billion people believe in God? What makes them say, “I am a Christian”. The distinct characteristic of Christianity is monotheism because God is the one and only God who created the world. However, monotheism and creation science will never be a sufficient reason for being a Christian. Belief in God is the result of three important causes, which are loneliness unknown where it comes from, relationship-oriented tendencies of humans, and intrinsic ethical objectivity. First, loneliness unknown where it comes from is one important cause of belief in God. At some point in human life, everybody feels an unknown loneliness. People try to fill this loneliness, but fail all the time even the greatest philosophers or mega-millionaires. In other words, the unknown loneliness is never be avoided by what people can get from this world. That is, the unknown loneliness can be avoided by transcendental. Inevitably, human beings have a craving for something beyond this land. Then, what is the transcendental? That is the God who created the earth. Because he created this earth, he transcends this world. People are designed by God to crave him. People become calm when they know where they really came from and who is the real father. In the context of above, relationship-oriented tendencies of humans is another important key point of belief in God. Every human being has a relationship with people, as the name of family even at the beginning of his or her life. In many relationship, a human feels almost every emotion. Joys and sorrows, hopes and fears, anger and charity. Most important thing is that people are happy when they know they are important to someone in the stable relationship. When relationship becomes cut off, people experience the deep sorrow in most cases. In Bible, God is a personal God who loves people and wants to be related with them. He never lets someone to be alone. In this point, people get essential comfort. Some people are not lonely, and some people may not need relationships. However, there is something that is common to everyone. That is an intrinsic ethical objectivity, which is the final reason. The objective morality is a deep human instinct. Nobody thinks rape and murder are right. If people think this objective morality as the product of all past evolutionary processes, no right and wrong in this world. If so, people prohibit immoral behaviors because they just want to improve social benefit. However, people think the immoral behaviors are wrong. That is, objective morality is a human instinct which is come from God. In Bible, God created the mankind. That is why people, who curious about the highest good, attracted by God. The highest good is God who built solid foundation for objective morality. He created human beings who inherit their real father’s moral values. To summarize, there are a number of causes of belief in God, not only for God’s nature, but also for human nature. Many people say that Christianity is a blind faith. However, the three causes described above are only a small fraction of various causes. As described above, through Christianity, people can get vital hints about themselves and the unknown problems of the world. These causes lead people to belief in God.
